In today's lesson, we'll help you check-in! In the States there are hotels, bed and breakfasts, and hostels. But let's not waste time. Let's jump right into today's lesson! In the US, when you get to a hotel and you want to check-in, you can use two possible phrases. If you have already booked the room, you can say, I have a reservation. The first words are I have. Then we have a reservation. All together we have I have a reservation. |
If you have not booked the room yet, the phrase you want to use is, I would like a room Once again that's I would like a room. I would like is the polite way of asking for something, and then we have a room, in other words the thing that you want. So all together, we have I would like a room, please. |
Afterward, they will most likely ask you, Your name please. It's just three words. Your name, and then please. |
You might also be asked, Can you spell it? Since your name might be hard for people to spell if they've never seen it before, then this is one you'll hear often. So once again, that's Can you spell it? |
Okay, now to close out today's lesson, we'd like you to practice what you've just learned. I'll say the phrase or sentence, and why don't you try saying it out loud? Good luck everybody! |
- I have a reservation. |
- I would like a room. |
- Your name please. |
- Can you spell it? |
All right, that's going to do it for today! See you all soon! |
