Enjoying the Beauty of the National Mall |
The National Mall belongs to one of the oldest national parks, and it contains plenty of opportunities to enjoy America's heritage. There are monuments to past presidents, memorials to our veterans, and symbols of the freedom that can be enjoyed in the United States. |
The National Mall is surrounded by Constitution Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue, First Street, Independence Avenue, Maryland Avenue, and 14th Street. Within the National Mall, you find landmarks like the Washington Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and other important monuments. |
But there is much more to see within the National Mall than just these important monuments. There are also museums galore! One of the most famous museum complexes in the world, the Smithsonian, is in the National Mall, including the easily recognizable glass building that houses the National Air and Space Museum. You'll also find the National Museum of the American Indian and the National Gallery of Art. |
You can opt to enjoy the National Mall on foot or take a bike tour. The beautiful and iconic Reflecting Pool provides a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the peace and freedom we have within our borders. There are also numerous gardens and sculptures throughout the area. |
The National Mall is home to so much of America's heritage that everyone should visit it at some point in their lives. The five acres it covers are truly a symbol of our country's commitment to freedom and democracy. |
