Lesson Transcript

Today we're going to continue with counting as we cover numbers 11-100.
Let's just quickly review 0 to 10.
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
In English, counting from 11-20 is half memorization half pattern, but then it gets easier after that.
11 eleven
12 twelve
13 thirteen
14 fourteen
15 fifteen
16 sixteen
17 seventeen
18 eighteen
19 nineteen
As you may have noticed, from numbers 13-19 you just add the word teen to the number you want to say. That's why people who are in this age range are called teenagers.
Now let's move on to numbers 20~100. Let's first just go over these
20 twenty
30 thirty
40 forty
50 fifty
60 sixty
70 seventy
80 eighty
90 ninety
100 one hundred
And when you want to say the numbers in between these numbers, add the number we learned in the previous lesson to these. So for example, 21 would be twenty-one. 32 would be thirty-two. 67 would be sixty-seven. 99 would be ninety-nine. Simple as that.
All right, that's going to do it for today! See you all soon!

Dear Ma Ziqiang,

This is a very good question. Both are in fact correct!

The pronunciation of [ti] would be British English, whilst [di] would be American English. It is up to you which accent you prefer to learn! In terms of understanding English, it is useful to be aware of both so you can understand what is being said.

Kind regards,

Gabriella

Hi Salivia,

When talking about numbers, no.

Of course "to" and "through" are not always interchangeable when talking about other things - for example, you would say "from Los Angeles to New York" but you would not use "through" there - but I think that's probably basic stuff :)

Thank you for your answer.

"In the sentences you gave, there is no difference" ... does that mean there are other sentences where it does make a difference?
