| Riding the Bus, Part 3: Where's the Next Stop? |
| In the previous lesson we learned how to ask the driver if the bus is going to your destination. Now we’ll take a look at confirming this information. |
| SURVIVAL PHRASES |
| Sometimes in the UK, the bus driver will give announcements about the upcoming stops. But don’t rely on this, because it may not happen. Plus, even if announcements are made, you may not hear them over the noise of the bus, or the driver may not speak clearly. |
| In case you’re not sure about the next stop, you can ask: “Excuse me, what’s the next stop?” Start off with ‘excuse me’ and then ask ‘what’s the next stop?’ Since it’s a question, you will need to use rising intonation. |
| “Excuse me, what’s the next stop?” |
| You can also ask if your intended destination is the next stop. Let’s choose Hyde Park in London for this example. This is a famous park in the city. In this case, the question would be: “Excuse me, is Hyde Park the next stop?” |
