INTRODUCTION |
Can You Take My Picture in the UK? |
While exploring the UK’s historic cities or scenic countryside and coastline, there are sure to be many times when you’ll want to take a photograph. And what about the times when you want to be in the photograph as well? In this lesson, we’ll learn a phrase that will be invaluable: “Can you take our picture, please?” |
SURVIVAL PHRASES |
So let’s take a closer look at that phrase. ‘Can’ is a helping verb used in questions, ‘you’ is the person you’re asking for help, and ‘take our picture’ is the request. And don’t forget ‘please’ at the end. |
“Can you take our picture, please?” |
If you’re on your own, you can ask: “Can you take my picture, please?” In this situation, just replace ‘our’ with ‘my’. |
Another way of making this request is by saying: “Would you mind taking our picture?” The first words, ‘would you mind’, form a polite question starter, the verb that follows, ‘taking’, is in the –ing form, and then we have ‘my’ or ‘our’, followed by the request word, ‘picture’. |
“Would you mind taking our picture?” |
Okay, to close out this lesson we’d like you to practice what you’ve just learned. I’ll provide you with the phrase, and you’re responsible for shouting it out loud. You have a few seconds before I give you the answer. So good luck! |
