“How tall are you?” in English.
In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question “How tall are you?”
Eric: How tall are you?
Becky: The first word in the question is
Eric: how
Becky: meaning “in what way, the way in which” in English.
Eric: (Slow, by syllable) how
Becky: Listen again and repeat.
Eric: how
Becky: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is
Eric: tall
Becky: meaning “not small,” or “of more than average height”
Eric: (Slow, by syllable) tall
Becky: Now repeat.
Eric: tall
Becky: Listen to the first two words of the question and repeat.
Eric: how tall
Becky: And after that

Becky: “183cm”, or “72 inches tall"
Eric: (Slow, by syllable) six feet
Becky:Now repeat.
Eric: six feet
Becky: And after that is
Eric: tall
Becky: “not small. or “of more than average height”
Eric: (Slow, by syllable) tall
Becky:Now repeat.
Eric: tall
Becky: Listen to the speaker say “I'm six feet tall” and then repeat.

Becky: To make another phrase, replace “six feet” with “five feet five inches tall.”

Becky: Here we just replace five feet five inches tall with five feet. Let’s practice. Say “I'm five feet tall.”

Becky: Now it's time for a quiz. Imagine you’re visiting the United States and someone asks you how tall you are. You’re six feet. What do you say?

Becky: Now imagine you’re five feet seven inches tall. Answer the speaker's question.
